  • Adults Deserve Fun Too!

    Exercise meets artistry and JOY! Whether you have fond memories of dancing as a child, you've become a dance class regular as an adult, or you're stepping into the studio for the first time...adults are welcome to find their groove with new and old friends at Joy in Motion!


    Thank you to those who have been a part of our first ever Session in our new home!  We only have 3 weeks left of Fall 2018 Classes...can you believe it?  We want to spread more JOY the month of December and are offering BRING A FRIEND FREE to all Adult Classes.

    THAT'S RIGHT!  Current adults with Class Cards can bring ONE friend free to try out any of our Adult Classes. Do you take more than one class in a week? Bring the same friend to each one or a different friend each time. The only stipulation is that you can only bring ONE per class. 

    Be sure to use up your 2018 Fall Session Class Cards before they expire on December 20th, 2018.

    Grand Opening Special!!

    For our first academic year in our new space, all 1hr 30min classes on the regular schedule will be charged at JiM's regular class card rates for 55-60min classes. That's 50% more class for FREE. Welcome home!!

    Teen/Adult Classes

    We have a few classes on the schedule open to both older youth and adults. For these classes, both adults and youth can purchase an "adult" class card and drop in.

    To Register

    Adults do not register for a specific class, but instead select an Adult Class Card. Class Cards are listed as "classes" in our system with no day, time or teacher. All class cards are good for any class listed on this page! Make sure you, the adult, are also a student on your account or your registration form so you can add the class card to that student.

    Old School

    Adult Classes will have paper and pen sign-in sheets and a box of physical "punch-cards" at the front desk!

    Adult Cards are not tied to a particular class. Mix and Match Classes Each Week or Take Just One Class! Youth taking Modern or Yoga for Dancers may purchase an "adult" class card!

    Ballet without the fuss. Wonder what to wear?  It’s easy: yoga type clothing, soft ballet shoes and long hair secured (for your own protection when pirouetting).     Wednesday 10:00-11:00am – Adult Classical Ballet Conditioning - LF 

    Perfect for those curious to learn about ballet, or those who miss ballet training and long to add some plies and port de bras to their workout regimes without taking a full 90 minute technique class.


    Hip Hop

    Get your groove and cardio on in these high energy classes filled with fun because adults deserve to have fun too. It will motivate and create positive space for you in your life. It encourages being yourself in a positive environment while doing the coolest new and old school dance moves with new and old friends.

    Tuesday 8:00–8:55pm / Thursday 11:00am-11:55am – Adult Hip Hop Exp. (18+) - JC

    Exp. classes include more intricate choreography. The same portion of a routine will generally be taught on both Tuesday night and Thursday morning of the same week.

    Wednesday 7:00-7:55pm / Tuesday 11:00am-11:55am – Adult Cardio Jam (18+) - JM 

    A great place for a Hip Hop beginner and anyone looking for the funnest cardio workout around!


    Thursday 8:00-8:55pm – Adult Jazz Int. (18+) - BW

    All that sass and all those jazz hands! This class will include warm-up, progressions, and choreography and is designed for adults with some dance experience (either recently or not so much).


    Saturday 11:30am-1:00pm (through Dec. 15th, 2018) – Adult Modern Exp. (Teen/Adult) - BW

    *MOVING to Wednesday 8:00-9:00pm in Winter Spring beginning January 9th, 2019 

    Modern explores the codified techniques of the American Modern Dance Pioneers: Graham, Limon, Cunningham, Horton, and Dunham.  These techniques are considered classical training, but are different than ballet in that they are done barefooted, include floor work, explore a shifting center of balance, and involve full range of motion of the spine.  Most notably modern dance uses ‘parallel’ positions of the hips, as opposed to the ‘turn out’ used for ballet.


    You're never fully dressed without a smile, and these classic tap steps never go out of style. Shuffle, shim-sham, and time step away because because adults (and seniors!) deserve to have fun too.

    For Exp. and Int. classes, some familiarity with tap recommended (even from childhood!). Adult Tap Int. will move to new steps/choreography at a quicker pace than the Senior class.

    Yoga for Dancers

    Tuesday 7:00-7:55pm – Yoga for Dancers (5th+ to Adult) - BW

    Deep stretching and core strengthening sequences and poses developed specifically for dancers (and dance lovers!) to increase flexibility and prevent injuries.  Students will devote time to focusing on the mind-body connection for greater kinesthetic awareness.
