  • Lafayette Art & Wine Festival 2019

    So fun!

We had a great time performing at the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival. It was our first time and it went off without a hitch. We couldn't have done it without our Entertainment Director Justin Cole, our our amazing staff & family members Justin Warner Madfes, Taylor Catherine, and Brian Sparks. Thanks for helping things run smoothly!

A huge shout out to everyone who came out to support the Festival and our dancers...but especially to all of our families who managed to get their dancers to and from our rehearsal and performance while managing to squeeze in other activities and obligations as well. Despite the heat our dancers were extremely cool, calm and collected. WAY TO GO DANCERS! We are so proud of you!!

Thank you to the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival for having us, Madison Celeste Gerringer for running the Family Stage and Chris Nishimoto for running sound...you guys rocked!!!

***Thank you Cindy Cattell for so many great photos!

  • Groovin' for Good #G4G

On July 23rd, 2017, Joy in Motion collaborated with Mindful Littles for a fun and meaningful community service event for a local senior home..."Groovin' for Good."

Tanuka Gordon, of Mindful Littles, explained why we came together to do this, sharing personal stories and history.  Then, our very own Justin Cole spent most of the time teaching the group a Freezemob and short dance to perform less than an hour later. We all walked to the senior home where JiM dancers performed two other numbers and the entire group did what we had just learned.  We are SO proud of everyone who attended this event to spread love, joy and compassion at the Orinda Senior Villiage. The participants were courageous, gracious, kind and so much fun to watch. Everyone in the room had a huge smile on their face and JiM dancers were part of the reason why.

At the end of the dance performance each family was paired up with a senior to chat and share stories. We are beyond proud and grateful to have been a part of this and blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community!

  • Last Sunday Justin Cole from Joy in Motion chose “Old Times Rock n Roll” as the song choice for our Mindful Littles Groovin’ for Good dance, and the lyrics couldn’t have be more appropriate. The event definitely was one that “soothed the soul,” and there were tears, laughter and a lot of hugs from littles, bigs and seniors alike. ~ Tanuka Gordon of Mindful Littles
