Dance for Kindness 2017 - Sunday, November 12th

On November 12th, Justin led the second event in San Francisco for the 6th annual Dance for Kindess (DFK).

DFK is a World Wide event brought to everyone by Life Vest Inside (LVI), a non-profit organization based in New York. It is in celebration of World Kindness Day. About 15,000 participants in over 120 cities, in about 50 countries, will perform a Freezemob & Flashmob to the same songs, doing the same dance, all on the same day.

Mixology Flash Mob

On Saturday, Oct. 7, Joy in Motion organized and lead a dance Flash Mob at the Lamorinda Art Council's Art of Mixology.

The 4th annual Art of Mixology Fundraiser at the Orinda Theatre Square supports the Lamorinda Arts Council - a nonprofit that has been igniting and sustaining artistic expression and appreciation in the visual, performing and literary arts for people of all ages in our community for over 65 years.

Justin Cole was the chair of the 2017 Mixology, and Joy in Motion was a sponsor!!

Groovin' for Good #G4G

On July 23rd, 2017, Joy in Motion collaborated with Mindful Littles for a fun and meaningful community service event for a local senior home..."Groovin' for Good."

Tanuka Gordon, of Mindful Littles, explained why we came together to do this, sharing personal stories and history.  Then, our very own Justin Cole spent most of the time teaching the group a Freezemob and short dance to perform less than an hour later. We all walked to the senior home where JiM dancers performed two other numbers and the entire group did what we had just learned.  We are SO proud of everyone who attended this event to spread love, joy and compassion at the Orinda Senior Villiage. The participants were courageous, gracious, kind and so much fun to watch. Everyone in the room had a huge smile on their face and JiM dancers were part of the reason why.

At the end of the dance performance each family was paired up with a senior to chat and share stories. We are beyond proud and grateful to have been a part of this and blessed to be a part of such a wonderful community!

Last Sunday Justin Cole from Joy in Motion chose “Old Times Rock n Roll” as the song choice for our Mindful Littles Groovin’ for Good dance, and the lyrics couldn’t have be more appropriate. The event definitely was one that “soothed the soul,” and there were tears, laughter and a lot of hugs from littles, bigs and seniors alike.

Joy in Motion, My Sustainable Table and Paynum sponsored a Dance-a-thon benefiting the Bay Area Crisis Nursery on September 25th, 2016 at the Quarry House in Orinda.

We were able to raise $2,500, which is enough money to help pay their grocery bill for a month

Dance for Kindness 2016

On November 13th, Joy in Motion's very own Justin led the event in the San Francisco for the first time. Over 200 participants came together to Dance for Kindness!

Joy in Motion was so honored that Justin was named Head Choreographer by Orly Wahba, the founder of Life Vest Inside, in 2016 and 2017.

This was my third year being involved in Dance For Kindness and it was undoubtedly the best yet.It has left me with an overwhelming feeling of gratitude, humility and genuine happiness. Seeing groups of people come together for the common goal of spreading kindness, love and positive energy was (and still is) remarkably moving! Regardless of where you are in this world, we can come together and connect as human beings.
