DRESS REHEARSALS & SHOWS ARE HELD AT ACALANES HIGH SCHOOL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER!
1200 Pleasant Hill Rd, Lafayette, CA 94549
CAST/SHOW ASSIGNMENTS
There are 5 CASTS!
Each cast will perform TWO TIMES EACH (Show A & Show B). Each cast performs the same set of dances two times back-to-back. They will do their class dance(s) and then perform in the Finale with everyone in that cast once…and then do it all again! We have them perform for 2 audiences to hopefully allow enough tickets for each family. Each show will run about 60-75 minutes.
The ONLY exception is that for our very youngest classes. They will be listed as SHOW B and perform for that specific cast and audience ONLY, NOT BOTH! They are only in one show!
*Note: Some dancers are in several casts.

REHEARSAL ASSIGNMENTS & SCHEDULE
Please be sure to check the schedule carefully since a dancer may be in more than one Block or even both rehearsals.
Note - If a dancer is placed in more than one block, they only need to practice the Finale once, they do not need to stay to do it again. As long as they rehearse all class dances and the Finale once, they are good to go!
*More information regarding rehearsal and show rules, guidelines, and expectations can be found below with hair and make-up information.
CAST SHOW ORDERS
SUBJECT TO CHANGE - One change made to Cast 3 - 2/3/25 @ 3 PM.
BASIC COSTUME INFORMATION
Fees for professional costumes purchased by JiM will be posted to accounts by the end of February. We do not collect a costume deposit at registration, so the amount will be the total costume price. Joy in Motion prices our costumes to cover our costs, but not to make a big profit from something we feel is expensive enough for families already. That being said, prices at all the costume companies went up noticeably last year. We will send information soon to go into your account to pay for your costume(s), or let you know the date we will charge accounts on file for the costumes. Please reach out to us if you wish to make other arrangements.
The costume book & guide (which will be in our lobby soon) shows what tights each class will be wearing, if any. For convenience to our families, we have bundled tights with most costumes. When optional, if you don't already have a clean pair from JiM from another class or year, you can purchase a pair from the front desk. Different brands look very different on stage so you do need tights from JiM if your class is wearing them.
For Hip Hop, funky freedom, and a few other classes, we have provided directions on gathering your own costume pieces...and will possibly invoice you for some others. We appreciate your attention to this.
FOR ALL COSTUME INFO - Check out the Costume Book & Guide in the lobby (coming soon) or check on our 2025 Show Info tab on our website.
EVERYONE will need a "Joy in Motion" shirt or top for the Finale. We are making a large order soon and will let you know when they are available in the lobby. They will be first-come first-served.
Other information will follow, such as volunteer spots, ticket information, etc.

WHO DOES NOT NEED A TICKET: Performers and volunteers…however, that does not mean there is a seat for you. Children 3 and under are allowed to sit on laps. Dancers cannot use a ticket for a show they are performing in. There is no way or time for them to go to the audience.
GET TICKETS HERE LATER!
VOLUNTEERS
We can't put on a show without volunteers. Volunteering is not required, but surely appreciated!! Many families choose to spend at least one show in the audience and one show helping backstage or ushering, taking photos, running the ticket table, etc! The venue will not allow viewing of the shows for most volunteer positions however, the primary goal is to keep the show moving and running smoothly. VIEW DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF SPOTS AVAILABLE HERE: VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS
*Volunteers with our very youngest dancers (in Show B)…perhaps you might be able to volunteer for a friend’s class, so that they can enjoy their dancer, and perhaps they can return the favor. We do NEED volunteers to help them back-stage and want you to be able to see your dancer on-stage.
